The Hydra Terra
It's called the Hydra Terra. Look at the photos — it's an RV that's also a boat!

The Hydra Terra starts at just under a million dollars. The one featured here goes for $1.25 million. Able to handle wakes of up to four feet, it's great for lakes, OK for most rivers, but not ocean-worthy — under no circumstances may you take it to Cuba or Catalina.

Julie Giljam knows all about them because she & husband John build them.

Ace's Guacamole Recipe!

Just in time for the Super Bowl — but a treat year 'round — this recipe should have friends coming back for more. Some like it hot ... some not. For the mellower buds, ease up on the jalapeños and/or add another tomato.

  • 4 avocados (ripe to the touch)
  • juice from 2 limes
  • 1 four-oz. can of green chiles (diced)
  • 6 diced jalapeño peppers (3 if fresh)
  • 1 large tomato (2 romas)
  • salt, pepper & cumin (optional) to taste
Mash avocados & combine with other ingredients. Chill for one hour to meld flavors.

Other options: For spicier guac, try adding ¼ onion (chopped), additional jalapeños and hot sauce (tomatillo & chipotle are my favorites) to taste.

Some folks don't like cumin. I love it; it has the "taste of Mexican food." Sample on your own with a tiny dusting on your pinkie.

Serve with tortilla chips.

For a real taste treat, try frying your own chips ... using both corn and flour tortillas. Cut into wedges with a knife as if slicing a pizza. Fry until crisp. Careful with the hot oil and beware ... the flour tortillas cook quickly. Drain on paper towels. Season hot chips lightly with salt. Serve warm.
